I moved from Miami back to Detroit a few months ago and I STILL dream of this place. Every day I couldn't wait for lunch because I knew I was coming here with co-workers! I always had their sushi special - one or two rolls, ginger salad, tempura and you get a choice of either sashimi or terriyaki chicken. All for $9! Unreal! I distinctly remember the taste of their ginger salad - wish I could have some right now! Miso soup is great also. Must try if you are looking for a quick and delicious lunch.

Come in on a weekday and you can do cartwheels in the middle of the restaurant, come in on a weekend and you barely have an inch of area to stand. In this case, I went on Friday night and it was completely packed. Not an empty table in sight. The service was very friendly and patient. They wanted to accommodate any party that walked through the door. Surprisingly even with this busy of a night, they were able to get us a 5 top table within 15 minutes. The food was fairly quick, too, which was impressive. I got the mystery roll. Wouldn't necessarily get it again. The roll was kind of falling apart and it seemed like the chef was rushing when they put it together. I have been here before, so I won't let this one experience keep me away. Overall: cute and cozy little sushi place. Authentic staff. Recommended for anyone who wants to eat at a mom and pop shop!

If you love authentic Japanese food, snd order more traditional sushi than this is as good as it gets! I'm a sushi fanatic, and would place this restaurant with any in NY. The daily specials written on the wall feature some of the best ,and traditional fair that I've seen in a long time. The uni was amazing!! Can't wait to to visit my little one at UM again so I could go back. SG

I can't believe I haven't written a review of my favorite sushi restaurant! One of the best sushi places in the Miami area. Their ginger dressing is made in-house. Really friendly staff too. Must visit!

Terrible customer service. Restaurant owner/ manager was completely rude regarding a friends t-shirt situation. I understand if his restaurant has dress requirements, but he shooed us out as if we were trash. I've also seen them give t-shirts to those who are not wearing proper attire. I used to go here at least four times a week, he's lost my business entirely. Oh, food is decent. I've had multiple encounters with fish that was not fresh whatsoever, I had to send it back.

Best japanese food in town! The fact that the clientele is mostly japanese, is always a good sign. I usually order the sashimi salad and my hubby orders rolls. This time just ordered the house salad... Devoured it and ordered a second portion. Simple but delish! Everything is always fresh and the employees are very welcoming. I love the fact that when you enter, the owner greets you with his heavy accent from across the restaurant "Hi, how are you" and when you leave he yells "Thank you. See you tomorrow." Even if he has never seen you before. He does that with everyone :-D

Having just moved to Miami, I asked my friends where to go for sushi, and they recommended Izkaya. Well, I will be returning to these friends for further restaurant advice as this was an excellent suggestion. The service was attentive and friendly; the sushi was very fresh, and the meal was reasonably priced. What more could you want? I would definitely return for sushi!
